Adding case images to an article

There is one common pathway but a few nuances as to how to add an image to an article. 

All images should be part of cases (even if they are not strictly speaking a clinical case, e.g. a diagram). These cases can then be linked to from an article in the form of a thumbnail in the right hand column. There are two common use-cases when adding an image:

1. you want to add an image from a case you have just uploaded
2. you want to add an image from a case uploaded some time ago

Adding from a just uploaded case

This is the easiest work-flow. 

1. add your case as you normally would
2. go to the article you want to add an image from your case
3. click edit
4. click add image
5. the 'image management console' will open and the images from your case should be the first ones you see (these are shown in order that they have been uploaded, so unless someone else has just contributed a case, your images should be first)
6. click the green plus of one of your images 
7. click close
8. edit the caption (by clicking on the caption under the thumbnail) 
9. click save

Adding from some other case

Although there are a couple of ways of doing this, the most reliable is as follows:

1. find the case you want to add an image from (use search for example)
2. go to that case page
3. display in the main image window (the big square window above the 4 thumbs nails) the image you want to include in the article
4. click the green flag in the bottom left hand corner of the image so that it turns blue (NB you have to be logged in to see the flag) - read more about flagging images
5. go to the article you want to add an image from your case
6. click edit
7. click add image
8. the 'image management console' will open, now click on the 'flagged images' tab
9. all the images you have currently flagged should be displayed
10. click the green plus of one of your images 
11. click close
12. edit the caption (by clicking on the caption under the thumbnail) 
13. click save

NB : you will want to periodically un-flag images (click the red flag so that it turns green again) so that your flagged image section does not get crowded. 

In order to maintain the clean uncluttered format of the the site it is best to add one image per article (unless there is an expectional feature to point out from the second image)

Adding a differential image

Most articles contain differential diagnoses as well as images. In order for articles to be comprehensive yet concise it is best if there is only "one best" image for each differential. The differential image should ideally contain the title of its diagnosis

e.g. Fibrous dysplasia : with the first letter being in capital and rest in simple case. 

If you think the differential image you are about to add is better than the existing differential, it is best to remove the existing image from the differential gallery and then add your one.

If you think the existing differential is a better representation than what you are about to add, then it may be better to leave it as it is. 

Captioning images

In order to have meaningful image gallery per article they should be labelled as numbered cases.  With the the first letter in capital. 

e.g 

Case 1 

If the image you are about to add has a particular feature to highlight  they it should labelled as 

Case 1 : with pathological fracture 

Where the first letter is not a capital (unless eponymous or acronym) and with a space on either side of the separator :
