Borderline breast disease
Borderline breast disease (BBD) refers to a group of conditions while being not completely malignant are still concerning. Usually an excision biopsy is recommended if entities falling into borderline breast disease is detected on core biopsy.
These entities include
- atypical ductal hyperplasia
- atypical lobular hyperplasia
- columnar alteration with prominent apical snouts and secretions (CAPSS)
- lobular intraepithelial neoplasia (LIN III)
- radial scar - complex sclerosing lesion
Occasionally sclerosing adenosis is also placed under this category although an excisionally biospy may not be required in this case reference required
