Cone-shaped caecum
A number of infective and inflammatory conditions can change the shape of the caecum, from its normal bulbous appearance to that of a cone, the apex pointing at the base of the appendix. Causes include:
- blastomycosis
- amebiasis
- inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- tuberculosis
- Yersinia enterocolitis
