Corkscrew oesophagus

corkscrew oesophagus (also known as a nutracker oesophagus or oesophageal spasm) represents a motility disorder of the oesophagus.

Clinical presentation

Symptoms include chest pain, dysphagia, and gastro-oesophageal regurgitation disease.

Radiographic features

Fluoroscopy : Barium swallow

Barium swallow is the investigation of choice to image this condition. Features include diffuse oesophageal spasm with simultaneous and uncoordinated contraction.
