The prepatellar bursa is one of the knee bursae. It is a bursa situated symmetrically anterior to the patella (between the patella and, in the subcutaneous tissues)tissue. It is often trilaminar or bilaminar 2. It may communicate with the superficial infrapatellar bursa, the deep infrapatellar bursa, and may even communicate within some cases the articular space 1.
