Primary benign cardiac tumours
Primary benign cardiac tumours, although rare compared to secondary involvement of the heart by malignancies of the chest or metastases, are much more common than primary malignant tumours of the heart. Tumours include 1-2:
- cardiac myxoma
- most common in adults
- accounts for ~50% of all primary benign tumours 1-2
- cardiac rhabdomyoma
- most common in children
- cardiac papillary fibroelastoma
- cardiac fibroma
- haemangioma of the heart
- cardiac lipoma
- cardiac paraganglioma
