Sarcoidosis (general)

Sarcoidosis is a non caseating granulomatous multi-system disease which it can affect many organs.

It is of unknown aetiology characterized by the presence of widespread, noncaseating granulomas. The granulomas may resolve spontaneously or progress to fibrosis. Sarcoidosis most commonly affects patients between 20 and 40 years of age and shows a slight female predominance. It involves primarily the lung and lymphatic systems of the body.

Non caseating granuloma formation occurs in all affected tissues.
