Terminology (article structure)

Last revised by Daniel J Bell on 30 Dec 2020

The terminology section of a standard article does not appear in all articles and is only required where clarification about terminology is required.

The terminology section is located immediately after the introduction, and before epidemiology.

This section will usually be a paragraph that explains specifics about terminology, or outlines disagreement between points of view, or outlines changes in terminology related to a classification system.

If a topic has a large number of historical synonyms which are no longer used it is often best to put these in the history and etymology section (see metal fume fever as a good example).
