Throckmorton sign

Throckmorton sign (also known as John Thomas sign) refers to when the penis points in the direction of unilateral disease, typically of the pelvis or hip. 

Throckmorton's sign is a slang term used jokingly by medical students and residents.

A variant of this sign when the penis is unusually small is the Mark Morton sign, apparently a commonly used term in the radiology world of Hampton Roads, Virginia, but quickly spreading to the rest of the United States [reference needed]. 

Etymology
