Haemophilic arthropathy - knee

Presentation

A known case of hemophilia with acute swelling of the left knee.

Patient Data

Age: 14 years
Gender: Male

Left knee

x-ray

Periarticular osteoporosis and epiphyseal enlargement are seen at left knee radiograph with widened intercondylar notch. There is also evidence of joint effusion in favor of hemarthrosis.

Case Discussion

The findings are consistent with haemophilic arthropathy of the left knee (Stage II - Arnold-Hilgartner classification).
