Pedestrian vs. car at 50 km/hr.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Comminuted fracture of the medial tibial plateau is evident with some depression and separation at the fracture site of 1.3 cm.

A lipohemarthrosis is noted.

Comminuted medial tibial plateau fracture involving the medial tibial spine has an articular surface step of up to 2.8 cm. Associated lipohemarthrosis and soft tissue edema.

Case Discussion

The presence of lipohemarthrosis is a strong indicator for an intra-articular fracture.
