Presentation

History of a car accident and left hemothorax 18 months ago, now describes chest pain and shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

A small size of the left hemithorax with abnormal thickened calcified left pleura mostly a sequela of previous trauma.

Case Discussion

Pleural thickening and calcification occur on top of long-term inflammatory diseases, such as empyema, hemothorax or tuberculosis.
