5th metatarsal fracture and normal apophysis

Presentation:

Trauma to foot. C/o pain in mid foot lateral / fibular aspect.

Patient Data:

Race: Indian/Pakistani
Modality: X-ray

5th metatarsal fracture ( lucent line perpendicular to 5th metatarsal bone ) and normal apophysis ( lucent line along 5th metatarsal bone ) 

Case Discussion:

Normal apophysis is along long axis of 5th metatarsal bone. Another lucent line at right angle to long axis of 5th metatarsal bone is undisplaced fracture.
