Presentation

Acute shortness of breath. No trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Large right sided pneumothorax with mediastinal shift.

Left lung clear.

Normal thoracic cage.

Right pleural drain in situ.

Large right pneumothorax.  The mediastinal shift has resolved with the trachea in the midline. 

Heart size normal.  Left lung clear.

Two days later

x-ray

Right pleural drain in situ.

The right pneumothorax has resolved.

Heart size normal.  Left lung clear.
