Age: 40 years
x-ray

Minimal right hip osteoarthritis, within normal limits for the patient's age. Unremarkable left hip. Normal sacroiliac joints.

Case Discussion

Osteoarthritis of the hip is common, and subjectively is usually divided into mild, moderate and severe.  Appearances differ from inflammatory arthritis', such as rheumatoid arthritis, where the joint space loss is symmetric, not predominantly in the weight-bearing aspect of the joint 1.
