  • <p>Cor T2 MRI of the upper abdomen</p> These images are part of an MRCP examination. One of the most striking findings is the typical "pearl necklace sign" of the gallbladder. A mild fluid effusion is seen around the pancreas, typical for acute pancreatitis.

Case Discussion:

Acute pancreatitis with incidental findings of adenomyomatosis of the gallbladder.

The pearl necklace sign alludes to the characteristically curvilinear arrangement of multiple rounded hyperintense intraluminal cavities visualized at T2-weighted MR imaging and MR cholangiopancreatography of adenomyomatosis.
