Amiodarone lung

Case contributed by: Dr Frank Gaillard
Modality: X-ray
Modality: CT

Case Discussion:

Chest x-ray in an elderly patient on amiodarone demonstrates numerous reticular opacities most marked in the right upper zone.

HRCT demonstrates multiple areas of patchy ground glass throughout both lungs, particularly dense in the right upper lobe. Increased reticular changes are also noted particularly the lung bases. Some bronchiectasis is noted in the medial basal segment of the right lower lobe.

Pretracheal and paraaortic lymphadenopathy is also present, the largest of which measures 1.2 cm in the pretracheal region.

Features are consistent with amiodarone lung
