A large, expansile lytic lesion with a narrow zone of transition involving the posterior part of left third rib with no cortical destruction nor extra-osseous soft tissue involvement. Few internal trabeculations are seen within the lesion. No periosteal reaction nor matrix calcification. No parenchymal lung abnormality.
Appearances are most likely suggesting aneurysmal bone cyst.
Case Discussion
Differential diagnosis for lucent/lytic rib lesion are:
- fibrous dysplasia
- enchondroma
- metastasis to bone/multiple myeloma
- lymphoma
- eosinophilic granuloma
