Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Late enhancing transmural left myocardial scar in the anterior wall, the septum and the apex. Local hypokinesia in this region on the cine images (2D FIESTA). Global left ventricular function was normal (EF= 66%). A thrombus could not be found.

Case Discussion

Recent advances in MRI have made it possible to assess myocardial infarction in patients. Local hypokinesia can be identified with cine images while scar tissues can be identified using late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) images which are obtained 10 minutes after gadolinium injection.
