Apical non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (Yamaguchi hypertrophy)
Presentation:
A male chronic smoker presents with recurrent chest pain and dyspnea.
Patient Data:
Marked myocardial hypertrophy of left lateral ventricle is seen, with marked myocardial thickening at apex, and significant narrowing during systole.
Case Discussion:
EKG of the patient showed giant negative 'T' wave, with 2-D echo features suggestive of apical HCM (also known as 'Yamaguchi's hypertrophy).
