Presentation

Pain during movement in the right hip joint with a decreased range of motion.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Reduced joint space with the remodeled femoral head showing areas of sclerosis. A partial collapse of the right femoral head.
Osteoarthritic changes of the right hip: Loss of joint space, marginal sclerosis, sub-articular cyst formation secondary to avascular necrosis.

Case Discussion

Advanced stage avascular necrosis of right femoral head with osteoarthritis.

Interruption of the Shenton line in the right hip due to collapse of the femoral head.
