Markedly enlarged prostate. It weighs about 155 g. The residual urine postmicturation = 44 ml.
The median lobe of the prostate indents the bladder base.
Case Discussion
Benign prostatic hyperplasia with postmicturation residual and diffuse bladder wall thickening with reduced urinary bladder capacity. This is a very common condition in older males.
Ultrasound has difficulty distinguishing benign from malignant prostate pathology.
