Benign thyroid nodule

Case contributed by: Dr Frank Gaillard
Modality: CT

Case Discussion:

The fine needle aspirate of the right thyroid lobe shows hemosiderin-laden macrophages and occasional clusters of benign-appearing follicular cells. The features are consistent with a benign thyroid cyst. Conservative management is warranted unless clinical or radiologic findings indicate otherwise (eg. unabated growth, compression).
