Presentation

Presented to ED with worsening bilateral hip pain.

Patient Data

Age: 16 years
Gender: Male

Only one AP image was provided. There is bilateral slippage of the upper femoral epiphyses. The line of Klein fails to intersect the femoral epiphysis on either side.

Case Discussion

If the line of Klein fails to intersect the epiphysis during the acute phase, it is called Trethowan's sign. Urgent orthopedic referral is advised in these types of cases.
