  • <p>T1WI</p> Sagittal T1WI shows the tumour is nestled between the external & internal carotid arleries in the carotid space. The Mass signal intensity is nearly similar to that of the muscle the classic "salt and pepper" appearnce is not obvious in this case

Sagittal T1WI shows a tumour nestled between the
external & internal carotid arleries in the carotid space.
The mass signal intensity is nearly similar to that of the muscle

T2WI shows that the mass signal intensity is above that of the muscle


(T1WI + C) shows an avidly-enhancing mass between ECA and ICA at carotid bifurcation.

MRA source (later arterial phase ) images show splaying of the internal and external carotids plus enhancement of the carotid body tumour

DWI showed evidence of restricted diffusion.
