Presentation

Motor vehicle accident followed by back and lower limb pain and weakness.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
mri

Anterior and lateral wedging of T12 vertebral body with focal kyphosis and disruption of the posterior longitudinal ligament, ligamenta flava and right T12- L1 facet joint fracture.

Case Discussion

Chance fracture include anterior wedge fracture with associated disruption of middle and posterior vertebral columns in form of rupture of posterior longitudinal ligament and posterior neural arch fracture. it is unstable fracture and usually involves T11 to L1 levels.
