Left foot pain.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

There are multiple foci of bone marrow edema located predominantly under the cortical layer.

Soft tissue edema is seen laterally.

No signs of destructive bone lesions or free fluid collections.

No joint effusion.

Mild to moderate degenerative changes involving intertarsal and tarsal/metatarsal joints.

Case Discussion

In the absence of other potential causes of foot pain, multiple subcortical foci of bone marrow edema are highly suspicious for complex regional pain syndrome also known as Sudeck atrophy.
