Craniopharyngioma

Case contributed by: Dr Hani Alsalam

Presentation:

Dizziness and episodes of loss of consciousness.

Patient Data:

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Race: Middle eastern

CT brain

Modality: CT

CT demonstrates a large multicystic mass centred in the suprasellar region and extending into the right middle cranial fossa. It has multiple foci of calcification.

MRI brain

Modality: MRI

MRI confirms the multicystic nature of the mass, but also demonstrates that the fluid is intermediate T1 signal and does not attenuate on FLAIR. Thin irregular contrast enhancement is also present.

Case Discussion:

Features are consistent with an adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma, which was proven histologically at resection.
