Cysticercosis - abdominal wall muscle

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Nodular swelling in left side of abdominal wall - Few days. Low grade pain. Referred for Ultrasound of swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 17 yrs
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Site of swelling and pain pointed by patient ( left lumbar region abdominal wall ) shows 

a well-defined, thin walled anechoic lesion with internal calcification focus. 

Size lesion  - 11 x 5 x 4 mm.

Size of calcification - 3 mm

Lesion is within external oblique muscle.

Perilesional hypervascularity is noted. No vascularity is noted in lesion wall.

Findings favor cysticercosis.
