Degenerated fibroid uterus

Presentation:

Lower abdominal pain and feeling pressure in the pelvis associated with urinary frequency.

Patient Data:

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
Race: Caucasian

CT pelvis

Modality: CT

CT through the pelvis demonstrates a large mass continuous with the uterus, which has central fluid density.  There is no free peritoneal fluid and the bladder is compressed and empty. 

Case Discussion:

This patient went on to have a hysterectomy which confirmed the presence of a degenerative uterine fibroid.
