Duodenal atresia

Presentation:

Preterm neonate with vomiting.

Patient Data:

Race: Indian/Pakistani
Modality: X-ray

The stomach and proximal duodenum are markedly dialated and there is paucity of bowel gas distal to the duodenum.  Features of obstruction around the level of D2.

Case Discussion:

Double bubble sign and distal gasless abdomen.

Also note white-out of lungs, which was presumed hyaline membrane disease
