Soft tissue swelling of the dorsal aspect of the forefoot without bony changes. No radio-opaque foreign body identified.

A 1.2 cm long linear echogenic foreign body is seen within the soft tissues of the dorsal foot. Appearances in keeping with a thorn with surrounding granuloma.
Case Discussion
X-ray demonstrates soft tissue swelling but doesn't show the foreign body itself. Ultrasound confirms appearances typical of a thorn foreign body.
