Presentation

This 30 year-old male laborer fell from a height onto a piece of wood. The patient, with the help of his colleague, cut short the plank of wood himself whilst in situ to enable transportation to hospital.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Embedded nail in the sole of the foot, with the patient's shoe remaining on, and below this the plank of wood in which the nail was in (like a layer cake: wood, shoe,sole of foot)

Case Discussion

The safest thing to do in this situation is to leave everything in situ and allow removal in a controlled hospital environment.
