Presentation

Thorn injury to leg since 4 to 5 days back. Complaining of local pain.

Patient Data

Age: 11 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

There is no bony abnormality.

ultrasound

There is a linear echogenic structure in anterior mid / distal leg - a foreign body. It is obliquely oriented. 

Length - about 25 mm

Medial - Proximal end of foreign body
- in mid line
- 6 mm deep from skin
- lies in subcutaneous fat

Lateral Distal end of foreign body.
- more distal
- about 10 mm deep from skin
- lies in tibialis anterior muscle

Foreign body is close to tibial cortex. However, it does not touch bone.
There is no periosteal reaction in underlying tibia.

There is no perifocal granuloma.
There is increased vascularity in adjacent tibialis anterior muscle.
