Conspicuously increased reflectivity and density at the right caudothalamic groove (pointed with arrows in the para-sagittal plane). The left caudothalamus and caudothalamic groove is normal and maintain its y-shape appearance. The rest of the thalami, mid-brain and the brain stem, ventricles, corpus callosum and the singulate gyrus, cerebellum, cavum septum pellucidum and the periventricular white matter are uneventful. No subdural effusion.
Case Discussion
Sonographic features consistent with a right-sided grade I (Germinal matrix hemorrhage a.k.a Periventricular hemorrhage or Caudothalamic hemorrhage).
