Presentation
Hypothyroidism signs and symptoms. In another radiology center multiple nodules reported and FNA was recommended.
Patient Data
Pseudonodular appearance: Multiple hyperechoic nodular appearances consist of fibrosis whilst the coarse hypoechoic areas consist of lymphocytic infiltrates.
Power Doppler and color Doppler modes show that hypoechoic areas are more vascular than hyperechoic areas.
Case Discussion
There are ultrasound features that are highly specific for Hashimoto disease. Pseudonodular appearance (giraffe pattern) is one of them and hyperechoic areas represent parenchymal fibrosis.
Awareness of these features may prevent patients from unnecessary FNAC.
