Extensive, confluent periventricular and deep white matter T2 hyperintensity. No mass effect, no diffusion restriction, no microhemorrhages, no enhancement.
Case Discussion
Further history of HIV with diagnosis made many years ago. Gradual decline in cognition with psychomotor retardation.
Imaging appearance is non-specific in isolation, but in this clinical setting is in keeping with the suspected diagnosis of HIV encephalopathy.
