Presentation

Young overseas worker with chronic abdominal pain and mild pyrexia.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

The cecum and a considerable amount of terminal ileum is thick walled and enhancing.  Multiple enlarged pericolic (most retrocecal) lymph nodes.

Case Discussion

It is often said in Europe that an abnormal terminal ileum is Crohns, Crohns, Crohns.  In Asia is it TB,TB,TB.

Well not always the case, but certainly there is a significant geographic difference for appearances which can be very similar on imaging.

This case was confirmed on endoscopic evaluation and biopsy as TB.

The abdomen is the commonest extra-pulmonary site for TB.
