Bicycle accident.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

The proximal interphalangeal joint of the left fifth finger is dislocated with the middle phalanx lying dorsal and medial to the proximal phalanx.

Case Discussion

Most dislocations of the interphalangeal joints are due to hyperextension. The proximal interphalangeal joints are the most commonly involved and in the vast majority of cases the dislocation is dorsal, as in this case.
