Presentation

The patient is complaining of vomiting, bloody stool, and periodical crying.

Patient Data

Age: 5 months
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Ultrasound of the abdomen shows a cylindrical mass consisting of an outer hypoechoic ring surrounding a loop of bowel, consistent with intussusception, with free fluid.

Case Discussion

Intussusception is an important cause of an acute abdomen in children. It is an emergency case and should be diagnosed immediately otherwise the result will be less than ideal.
