Intussusception due to small bowel lymphoma

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Recent weight loss and anemia.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Diffuse intestinal wall thickening is seen in the proximal small bowel, and bowel within bowel appearance is noted at the left lower quadrant, known as the target sign on axial images.

There are also multiple mesenteric enlarged lymph nodes.

Ring artifact is observed.

Case Discussion

The findings of CT are compatible with ileoileal intussusception in a pathology proved case of small bowel lymphoma.

The appearance of intussusception is characteristic and depends on the imaging plane and where along the bowel images are obtained 1-2

Gastrointestinal neoplasms are the most common cause of intussusception in adults1.
