Kissing carotids

Presentation:

MRA done for vertigo of long duration

Patient Data:

Age: 62
Gender: Female
Race: Indian/Pakistani
Modality: MRI

The MRA shows medial deviation of both ICA in their prevertebral course.

Case Discussion:

The ICA normally originates posterolaterally to ECA.

However in 10% of patients it originates medially and shows a medial deviation called "Kissing carotids"
