Large bowel obstruction due a colorectal carcinoma

Abdominal distention and pain.

Patient Data

Age: 55-year-old
Gender: Male

Pre and post-contrast images showing a narrowing point due to an enhancing wall thickness at the splenic flexure of the colon that causes both large and small bowels distention. The remainder of the exam is unremarkable. 

Case Discussion

The features showed on this CT scan are almost certain for a colonic cancer.

The patient was referred to colonoscopy. Biopsy confirmed a colorectal carcinoma, which is the main cause of large bowel obstruction in elderly.
