Patient Data
CT shows a right frontal extra-axial mass with a dural tail, displacing the adjacent parenchyma in the right frontal lobe. The right lateral ventricle is partially effaced. The third and 4th ventricles are normal. The adjacent calvaria presents a permeative aspect with lytic areas and expansion of the diploe. Brainstem and cerebellum are normal. Basal subarachnoid cisterns are within normal range. No focal parenchymal lesions are observed.
MRI revealed a mass showing intense extra-axial enhancement following the use of intravenous contrast with "dural tail", periosteal reaction and infiltration of the diploe and adjacent frontoparietal soft tissue.
Incidental note is made of a small cavernous malformation in the white matter just lateral to the trigone of the left lateral ventricle.
Case Discussion
Findings are consistent with a meningioma with extension into the frontal bone.
