Diagnostic workup of a palpable mass on left breast

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Gender: Female

Spiculated masses which are multicentric and multifocal.

Multicentric masses, which are clearly delineated.

Case Discussion

The case only really makes sense if you add the ultrasound image. The image shows the two contiguous but distinct tumors visible on the mammogram image above.

Imaging of the contralateral breast is also indicated to get a baseline of the contralateral breast and to exclude a synchronous carcinoma on the contralateral side.

All three lesions are biopsy confirmed invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC).
