Ultrasound of right leg swellings shows two focal muscle fascial defects anteriorly at the tibialis anterior muscle at mid-leg level. The defects are averaging 10 mm and 7 mm with herniation of muscle in the standing position.
Case Discussion
Ultrasound features of two right tibialis anterior muscle hernias. In this case, these swellings were noticed years ago with no history of trauma. The tibialis anterior muscle is the most common muscle for giving off hernias and can be multiple. Ultrasound is the modality of choice for suspected muscle hernias.
