Presentation
Patient presented with painless swelling at left alar base causing disfigurement of face. On palpation, swelling was non-tender, fluctuant and mobile. It obliterated nasolabial fold and elevated the floor of nose.
Patient Data
Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.
Conventional X-Ray did not show any significant change in bone. USG revealed well defined cystic lesion with thick internal echoes. Underlying bone appeared normal. CT showed well-demarcated rounded homogenous, low density, non-enhancing lesion at nasolabial region. Evidence of scalloping and bone remodeling noted at alveolar margin.
Case Discussion
USG is helpful for evaluating lesion contents while CT is helpful in determining the extent of the lesion. The nasolabial cyst has expansile nature and bone erosion may occur after a long time owing to the pressure. Although it is cystic in nature, a hyperdense appearance can be due to mucoid content.
