Normal overlap of humerus and glenoid - diagram

Case Discussion:

On the normal AP x-ray of the shoulder, there is a normal lenticular region of overlap between the humerus and the glenoid. Loss of this is one of the signs of a posterior shoulder dislocation and is known by the cumbersome name of the loss of normal half moon overlap sign.
