Gender: Female
Fluoroscopy

Linear filling defect anteriorly producing a "jet" of contrast at the level of C5. This is in keeping with an esophageal web. 

Case Discussion

Key learning points:

  • esophageal webs arise from the anterior wall or are less commonly circumferential
  • most commonly occurs within 2cm of cricopharyngeus muscle
  • usually only seen when the esophagus is maximally distended with contrast
