Osteomyelitis - radial metaphysis

Presentation:

Pain in wrist.

Patient Data:

Age: child
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Modality: X-ray

An agressive lucent lesion int he metaphysis of the radius abutting the growth plate is demonstrated, with associated soft tissue swelling best seen in the medial aspect of the wrist.

Case Discussion:

This patient went on to have further imaging (not shown). He was febrile with raised white cell count and inflammatory markers. Features were consistent with (and confirmed to be) osteomyelitis.
